Kym Kaufmann Deputy Minister of Mental Health, Wellness and Recovery Government of Manitoba

Kym Kaufmann has been the deputy minister of Mental Health, Wellness and Recovery in Manitoba since the department’s inception. She had previously worked in various executive positions in the mental health and addictions system in Manitoba. Most recently, she was the CEO of Eden Health Care Services, a regional organization providing mental health services as part of the provincial mental health and addictions system. She had also held several senior-level positions at Selkirk Mental Health Centre.
Kaufmann has transformed organizational cultures to promote innovation, inclusivity, performance and accountability. While at Selkirk, she led the work for Manitoba’s provincial psychiatric hospital to achieve Accreditation with Exemplary Status. She also implemented mental health indicators with national comparative reporting, which resulted in her appointment to the Canadian Institute for Health Information’s Mental Health Indicator Advisory Board.
Kaufmann holds a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Occupational Therapy, and certificates in Quality Management and Public Sector Management from the University of Manitoba and is a Registered Occupational Therapist. She is also a guest lecturer at Red River College and the University of Manitoba’s College of Rehabilitation Sciences.
